In this Working Paper, Sithandiwe Yeni explores resistance by people over land rights violations by traditional leadership. Her paper seeks to explore ways in which people living in communal areas under the authority of traditional leadership resist when their land rights are violated by traditional leaders who abuse their power when opportunities for profit arise. Her paper forms part of an ongoing MISTRA research project on Traditional Leaders in a Democracy: Resources, Respect and Resistance.
