These two events brought together policymakers, researchers, political practitioners, legal experts, diplomats and civil society representatives from South Africa and the Netherlands for an in-depth discussion about coalition governance in both countries. The discussions covered topics such as coalition formation and consolidation, institutional design, public legitimacy, civic engagement and the management of ideological difference within coalition governments.
Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa co-hosted two event in Cape Town. The first event titled ‘Coalition Governance in South Africa and the Netherlands and second event titled Navigating Coalition Governance in South Africa and the Netherlands.
