IMF 2024 Article IV Discussion

The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA), in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), hosted a discussion with IMF Senior Resident Representative for South Africa, Tidiane Kinda, on the latest Article IV Consultations with South Africa held between 11-25 November 2024, and the associated report published on January 30, 2025.
As prescribed in the IMF’s Articles of Agreement, the IMF held these consultations with the South African government to collect economic and financial information and discuss the country’s economic developments and policies. The outcomes of these consultations are summarised in an Article IV Staff Report.
The discussion reviewed the Report and discussed the Fund’s assessments, findings and recommendations.
