On the 27th April 2014, Dr Thembeka Mufamadi, Senior Researcher at MISTRA, participated in a thought- provoking panel discussion coinciding with the “Naming Ceremony for the Solomon Mahlangu Building and the Robert Sobukwe building “at the University of South Africa.

Dr Thembeka Mufamadi, (a proud UNISA alumni), representing MISTRA focused on the importance of public history  as illustrated in the street renaming, such as Schoeman to Frances Baard. She asserted that street and place naming engrave the historical consciousness of South Africans who encounter these national markers in their daily lives.

The event was broadcasted on Freedom Day, April the 27th via UNISA webcast.
