Prof Mark Swilling – Distinguished Professor and Co-director of the Centre for Sustainability Transitions, Stellenbosch University delivered a keynote speech at MISTRA’s book launch: South Africa in an Age of Disasters: Managing Risk and Building Competence

We are not going to solve our problems in South Africa if we do not change the way we allocate capital. The strong cross-cutting theme in the book is about the role of the state in planning and in addressing disasters. There is not enough, in my view, not just in this book but much South African work about the allocation of capital.
