The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) hosted its 10th Annual MISTRA Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Roundtable on Wednesday, 05 November 2025.
The webinar brought together pre-eminent thinkers, policymakers and industry leaders for a high-level exchange of ideas that will help define the next decade of South Africa’s mineral and energy strategy.
Since its inception, this forum has become a defining space for shaping policy, strategy and innovation at the intersection of minerals, energy and industrial development. This year’s event takes place at a critical inflection point for South Africa’s economy and global positioning.
With the country assuming the G20 Presidency and Cabinet having recently approved the Critical Minerals and Metals Strategy, the 2025 Roundtable interrogated how South Africa can move beyond extraction toward true beneficiation and industrialisation.
