The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA), in partnership with the University of Johannesburg, hosted the 13th Mapungubwe Annual Lecture 2025.

Dr Naledi Pandor, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, delivered

this year’s lecture. In her address, she reflected on the theme: Has the world moved under our feet? Her lecture examined current geopolitical developments in relation to US-China relations and their implications for global peace and the political economy, as well as the prognosis for US-South Africa relations.
