9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) is pleased to announce the completion of its two-year research project on “The Art, Philosophy and Science of Football in South Africa.”
MISTRA would like to invite you to attend a conference at which the Institute will release the full report on it’s research into professional football in South Africa.
This project signals an important development in scholarship on professional football. The conference will provide an opportunity to engage with some of the findings of this cross-sectional study, including: the impact of emphasis on success on youth development programmes; the importance of long-term strategic planning for football development; the long-term impact of the ‘brain drain’ of talented footballers to European leagues.
This conference will also provide an opportunity to engage on the state of football in SA, to share ideas about the future of the sport, as well as to discuss some of the possibilities of future research into competitive football in South Africa.
