The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA), in partnership with the University of Johannesburg, invites you to the 13th Mapungubwe Annual Lecture on 4 September 2025 from 15:30 – 18:00.
We are delighted to have Dr Naledi Pandor, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, deliver this year’s lecture. In her address, she will be reflecting on the theme Has the world moved under our feet? Her lecture will be looking at current geopolitical developments in relation to US-China relations and implications for global peace and the political economy, as well as the prognosis for US-South Africa relations.
Dr Naledi Pandor has served as a cabinet minister under several administrations from 2004 to 2024. She was a Member of Parliament from 1994 until 2024 and held office as a minister of key portfolios, including International Relations and Cooperation, Home Affairs and Higher Education.
