Fourth Annual Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Roundtable
25 November 2019
JSE Limited, Gwen Lane, Sandown
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) is pleased to invite you to its Fourth Annual Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Roundtable on the 25th November 2019. This year, the roundtable will include a launch of MISTRA’s latest research report on PGMs, entitled: A South African PGM Exchange: Policy Rationale for Financial Beneficiation.
The research was undertaken by MISTRA in partnership with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and Pan-African Investment & Research Services (PAIRS) in consultation with PGM value chain stakeholders. It aims to determine the feasibility of establishing a PGM Exchange in South Africa.
This adds to MISTRA’s in-depth research on the political economy of mining, including the books, South Africa and the Global Hydrogen Economy: the Strategic Role of Platinum Group Metals and The Future of Mining in South Africa: Sunset or Sunrise published in 2013 and 2018, respectively.
MISTRA’s Annual PGM Roundtable brings together different stakeholders in the PGM value chain to collectively take stock of dynamics in the industry. Critically, it seeks to address market coordination failures and ensure joint and varied actions to take full advantage of an endowment that South Africa has in abundance.
The theme for this year’s roundtable is: Reimagining PGM value chains for effective beneficiation. Download the Annual PGM Roundtable_ Draft Programme_20191029 for reference.
