The edited volume brings African researchers, experts and practitioners together to probe possible solutions to the continent’s heavy burden of disease. The authors have extracted lessons from case studies in different parts of Africa to challenge conventional frameworks about disease and to argue for a multi-faceted ‘syndemics’ approach that takes account of the interrelationship between disease and political and socioeconomic contexts, to examine the factors affecting the efficacy of frontline healthcare workers and to identify future health challenges.
MISTRA would greatly value your participation in a discussion about the structural drivers of disease in Africa and the development of strong health systems on the continent. The recurring themes in the book will be helpful in devising policy for the control of disease and the combatting of epidemics in Africa.
