COVID-19 Message from Executive Director
27 March - 16 April 2020
-
The spread of the COVID-19 has now reached a critical phase in our country, which has necessitated that institutions, communities and individuals act decisively to contain the virus. During this time of heightened concern, the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) would like to assure you that we will do our best to ensure our business continues, with minimal interruptions.
As of the 27th March 2020, MISTRA management has requested all its staff to work remotely, from their homes, and implement all measures that have been recommended by the President, Minister of Health, NICD and WHO to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Consequently , we have postponed our upcoming major public events and have migrated all other engagements to virtual platforms. We hope that these measures will help ensure the well-being of our staff, stakeholders and community at large.
Our staff will be working at full capacity and have the tools and resources to support our clients, external researchers and partners from remote locations. We have also put in place protocols to mitigate any economic risk that COVID-19 may pose to the sustainability of the Institute.
MISTRA is of the firm view that the ‘burning platform’ of COVID-19 can serve as a basis for South Africa to intensify efforts towards social compacting beyond health matters, so all of us can help lift our society onto a higher growth and development trajectory.
We will continue to monitor developments and send updates through our digital platforms. Should you need to contact us please phone us on our landline: 011 518 0260 (which is being remotely operated) or email: info@mistra.org.za.
We wish all our partners – and indeed all South Africans and humanity at large – good health and all the best in these difficult times!
