At this crucial point in our democracy, MISTRA invites you to the launch of its latest book, The State of the South African State. Contributors to the edited volume draw on leading scholarship to interrogate the state’s capacity and ethics, and, crucially, recommend measures for strengthening governance and accountability.  The launch  will consider the question: ‘Does the South African state have the capacity to govern effectively, deliver services equitably and earn the trust of its people?’
