Annual Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Roundtable

27 - 27 September 2019

Gallagher Convention Centre, 19 Richard Drive, Midrand

9:30 am - 1:00 pm

The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) is pleased to invite you to its Third Annual Platinum Group Metals (PGMRoundtable. MISTRA’s Annual PGM roundtable is a day-long engagement seeking to identify and address some of the most challenging issues facing the PGM industry presently and beyond.

MISTRA convenes producers and other industry leaders, national and provincial government as well as academia to engage on how the country can develop PGMs beneficiation and enhance demand beyond the current levels, through the development of a fuel cell industry, as identified in the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP).

The first roundtable focused on fuel cells applications in various markets such as residential, industry and transportation and the second roundtable focused on the political economy of PGM mining. This year, two panel presentations and discussions are envisaged on taking forward initiatives on PGM beneficiation.

  • Demand-side Management: Cultivating a market for PGM-based fuel cells
  • Supply-side Management: Opportunities and challenges in fuel cell manufacturing

The sub-themes are as follows:

  • Production of fuel cells for transport and electrification
  • Localisation of production of fuel cells and components
  • Development of pilot projects.

Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
