A MISTRA Webinar: The State of the South African State
27 February 2025
Zoom Webinar
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection is hosting a webinar panel discussion on the state of the South African state 30 years into democracy.
Building on MISTRA’s previous research examining the complex challenges, successes and failures of the South African state, MISTRA has undertaken a project that provides a comprehensive and timely evaluation of the South African state, with recommendations for course correction.
This webinar is a precursor to MISTRA’s upcoming publication on the South African state. While exploring different conceptual and theoretical lenses relevant to an understanding of the South African state, it will also assess the state’s capability, capacity, ethics and effectiveness.
Join us in a sober assessment of the South African state, discussing the challenges it continues to face, and the requirements for it to effectively address its developmental and other challenges, and to assess whether the contemporary state, led by the GNU, is up to the task.
The webinar will be conducted via Zoom and moderated by MISTRA Director of Research, Dr Sandy Africa.
