South Africa has ambitious strategies for green hydrogen, critical minerals and beneficiation. With significant PGM reserves, renewable energy potential and growing investment in hydrogen projects, the country is well positioned to play a leading role in the emerging hydrogen economy.

Yet a critical question remains: how do we move from strategic ambition to execution?

The 2026 MISTRA Annual PGM Roundtable will bring together key stakeholders for a critical conversation on the practical steps needed to accelerate South Africa’s PGM-powered hydrogen economy, including investment, industrial development, beneficiation, skills development and stronger collaboration across government, industry and other stakeholders.
