The latest edition of the MISTRA Coalitions Barometer consists of a 2026 dataset (available on https://coalitions.mistra.org.za/) which, for the first time, describes coalition politics in South Africa in a structured format that allows for quantitative analysis of coalition trends and developments.
The Barometer also includes this written analysis of the 2026 dataset, as an aid to interpreting the statistics. The key findings to emerge from the dataset are summarised overleaf.
