MISTRA Fellows

MISTRA’s Fellows Programme was established to ensure a close connection between the Institute and those who have contributed to its research output. It’s intended to bring together experts, researchers and high-level partners working in a variety of fields or on specific themes. Members of this pool will be designated as a Fellow of the Mapungubwe Institute (FMI), who will work with and at MISTRA as and when the need arises. The programme is aimed at helping MISTRA to produce new knowledge in the fields of human development in the social and natural sciences.

The objectives of the programme include:

  • Consolidate relations with the researchers who have made a contribution to the work of MISTRA by formally appointing the individuals as Fellows of the Mapungubwe Institute (FMI);
  • Expand potential networks for Resource Mobilisation efforts.
  • Systematically approach Fellows for involvement in MISTRA’s work.
  • Ensure that the Fellows are informed about MISTRA events such as strategic reflections, annual lectures, roundtables and conferences.
  • Engage with the Fellows to grow MISTRA’s skills base.
  • Support MISTRA Fellows to promote MISTRA links, event information etc, on platforms they have access to.
  • Encourage MISTRA Fellows to cite MISTRA research in their presentations, highlighting insights and events in the organisation that they are part of.
