The core research question is explored through central themes such as the impact of migration patterns on state governance, social cohesion and South Africa’s political economy, with a focus on three secondary research questions that all link into the core question:

  • What is the impact of migration trends in South Africa’s political economy?
  • What policy interventions and other measures of state governance are in use to practice governance in relation to migration?
  • How does migration shape citizenship, identity and social cohesion in communities?
